Sexuality, Dating & Intimacy Support
Connection, Confidence & Choice
Relationships, dating, intimacy and sexuality are all part of being human. After a brain injury, changes in your body, confidence, communication, emotions or thinking can affect these important parts of life which may influence how you experience and express your sexuality.
At Sakura Allied Health, we provide a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space to talk about the things that matter to you. Whether you’re thinking about dating, navigating a relationship, understanding changes in your body and body image, desire, sexual function or exploring intimacy, we’ll work with you to find practical ways forward.
Sexuality Is Part of Everyday Life Too
Relationships, attraction, dating, body image, sexual identity, intimacy and connection can all be important parts of who you are and the life you want to lead.
That’s why we believe you should be able to talk about them as part of your rehabilitation.
There’s no checklist of things you need to discuss and nothing is off the table simply because it feels personal.
Our support is guided by your goals, choices, values and what feels comfortable for you.
Together, we might explore:
Building confidence with dating, relationships and intimacy
Understanding changes in body image, desire or sexual function
Finding ways to communicate your needs, boundaries and preferences
Developing strategies for navigating relationships and social situations
Exploring how changes after brain injury may be affecting intimacy and connection
Finding practical ways to support intimacy, including adaptive strategies and equipment where appropriate
Building confidence to make choices about relationships, sexuality and your own body.
Practical Support, Without the Awkwardness
Inclusive Support That Respects Who You Are
We know these aren't always easy things to bring up.
At Sakura, you don't need to have the perfect words. We'll meet the conversation with respect, openness and without judgement, and work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Depending on what you'd like support with, this might involve practical strategies, education, communication support, environmental changes, adaptive approaches or working through real-life situations and goals together.
Our approach is always guided by your choices, your values and what feels right for you. Supporting clients with brain injury in reclaiming their sexual identity and intimate lives is an essential part of holistic, empowering care. We welcome and affirm people of all genders, sexualities, cultures, backgrounds and abilities and will work alongside you with respect, understanding and without judgement.
