Our Services

  • Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Our allied health team supports adults recovering from brain injuries, including traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke and acquired brain injuries (ABI). We take a personalised, evidence-based approach to rehabilitation, focusing on what matters most to you.

We start by getting to know your goals, strengths and challenges you're experiencing. From there, we work alongside you to create a rehabilitation plan tailored to your needs, supporting cognitive, physical, communication and functional recovery. Therapy can take place in your home, your local community or at our clinic - whatever works best for you!

Our aim is to help you regain independence, maintain or improve your quality of life and feel more confident in your day-to-day activities.

  • Vestibular Physiotherapy

Vestibular physiotherapy and rehabilitation is specialised physiotherapy focused to help people who feel dizzy, light-headed, off balance or like the room is spinning. These symptoms can happen after an illness, injury or for unknown reasons and they often affect your confidence in walking, moving or doing everyday tasks.

Vestibular issues are especially common after a brain injury with research showing that up to 50% of individuals experience vestibular dysfunction following a traumatic brain injury. These changes can significantly affect a person’s ability to move safely and independently in daily life.

We will start by taking the time to understand your symptoms, when and how they started, what makes your symptoms worse and how they affect your life. We then complete a gentle and focused assessment including checking how your eyes move, how your inner ear (vestibular system) is working and how well you can balance when standing or walking.

Following diagnosis we’ll guide you through a personalised, evidence based plan to help your vestibular system, brain and body work together more smoothly again, with in-clinic exercises and a program to complete at home. Over time, we hope to support you to reduce dizziness, improve balance and help you feel more steady and confident doing the daily activities most important to you.

  • Sexuality and Intimacy Support

Sexuality and intimacy are fundamental aspects of human identity and wellbeing yet are often overlooked in the rehabilitation and care of individuals with brain injury. Brain injuries can affect physical function, emotional regulation, communication, and cognitive processing, each of which may influence how a person experiences and expresses their sexuality.

Sakura Allied Health focuses on providing thoughtful, person-centred support around sexuality and intimacy, helping you to navigate changes in body image, relationships, desire and sexual function. This may include education, therapy, communication strategies or the use of adaptive tools, all delivered in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Supporting clients with brain injury in reclaiming their sexual identity and intimate lives is an essential part of holistic, empowering care. We welcome and affirm people of all genders, sexualities, cultures, backgrounds and abilities and are dedicated to partnering with each person in a way that honours your individual health needs.

  • Post Concussion/Mild TBI Rehabilitation

We offer comprehensive post-concussive rehabilitation services designed to support recovery from mild traumatic brain injury (concussion). Our team, comprised Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech Pathologists, works collaboratively to address the wide range of symptoms that can follow a concussion including headaches, dizziness, fatigue, cognitive changes and emotional regulation difficulties.

Occupational Therapy focuses on supporting improvement in cognitive changes such as memory, attention, organisation and planning as well as restoring daily function, managing routines and sleep and supporting return to work or study. Physiotherapy targets vestibular and balance concerns, neck pain and physical reconditioning. Speech Pathology addresses cognitive-communication challenges such as word finding difficulties, other language changes and slowed processing speed; Speech Pathology can also support social communication, reading and writing.

Our tailored, evidence based programs help clients regain confidence, independence and quality of life through personalised, goal driven therapy.
