Post Concussion & Mild TBI Rehabilitation

Support for Recovery and Everyday Life

A concussion can affect much more than you might expect in your daily life. Concussion, also known as mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), can happen from a knock to the head, whiplash or other forces that move the brain in your skull. This may occur during sport or physical activity, a car or bike accident, a fall or from physical assault including blows to the head and neck, shaking, shoving or non-fatal strangulation.

Symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, memory changes and feeling overwhelmed can make everyday life, work, study and the things you enjoy feel harder than they should. Our team is here to help you understand what’s happening, develop and put in place practical strategies and support your concussion recovery.

Sakura Allied Health offers comprehensive post-concussion rehabilitation services designed to support recovery from mild traumatic brain injury (concussion). Our Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech Pathologists work together to support the different ways a concussion can affect how you think, move, communicate and manage your everyday life.

Post-concussion rehabilitation might involve helping you:

  • Manage headaches, dizziness, fatigue and other physical symptoms

  • Establish routines that support sleep, energy and recovery

  • Develop strategies for memory, attention, concentration and processing information

  • Make planning, organisation and everyday tasks more manageable

  • Develop strategies for managing overwhelm and changes in emotional regulation

  • Address balance, vestibular and neck-related concerns

  • Manage changes to communication and word finding

  • Support reading, writing and social communication

  • Work towards a safe and sustainable return to sport

  • Build confidence participating in the things you enjoy again

  • Gradually return to exercise and everyday activities
